Gas needs to be 7$/per gallon in the us. prediction: 5$ by June 2009.
I don't know what the purpose of the sob stories concerning high fuel prices are, but they seem to be portraying the affects of high gas prices as having some rather positive affects on peoples life styles. One article talked about how bicycle sales were doing very well because people are deciding to ride their bikes to work instead of driving in... This sounds good to me. You also hear over and over that people are choosing to take the bus rather than their car... isn't this good for everyone? air, road congestion ect. People are also having limit there choices of cars to smaller sized vehicles... Isn't this also good. There is a lot of pressure for research to find alternative, cleaner energy sources. Isn't this good. But yes higher cost of fuel means a slow down in the economy. Probably not the best time for another negaive influence on the pace of the economy. But I heard a comment the other day from a politician from BC that I liked. Basically it stated that there is never going to be a good time to raise the cost of fuel. But is addresses the problem that will never go away, there will NEVER be a convenient time to pay more for gas. Anyways everyone is going to be affected by higher fuel costs and probably others more so than me, which is why
I can only take my own opinion with only so much gravity. In the longterm we will see and my bet is that mostly good
will come out of a gas price crisis.
Nuclear is really the only short term enviromentally feasible to sovle today's looming energy crisis. (wip) |
