October 12th, 2009 Its a BOY!

October 13th, 2009 Obama gets the nobel peace prize. Good on him. After listening to NPR and other liberal radio stations i'm totally convinced that we are are sufocating on our own importance . The truth is we have never reallly had a solid grasp on how the international comunity has measured us and this prize is certainly a good ruler. look at the results with russia. maybe the most important that could happen. good on him. i hope the poor bastard doesn't loose too much sleep over the stupid asswipe trying to jump on him like an underfed cougar.

September 2nd, 2009 It blows my mind. My dad is visiting from Ontario. The depth and magnitude of things that are said are incredible. And the things that are not are even more. He is leaving tommorrow and I'll miss the old man.

August 8th, 2009 Went to the seattle science center this weekend. Kids had a lot of fun. Had a hard time pully pascal out of the video arcade. The car racing games entranced him. I don't know about this science center. I remember as a kid the Toronto science center being so much more interesting. They were much more physics oriented. It seems like seattle's center was much more desperate to be liked. But they did have a maze set up which made me think they could get kids interested in logic in these types of ways. how to get through the maze the fastest. How to put something together ect. This would be fun, but also make kids think. Which to me is way more effective in wowing them with comedian insects. They had a butterfly exhibit. Which I really liked. More because of the how relaxing it was. Butterflies are gorgeous creatures that fly in such a unique way. Almost like they are falling and lifting there torso through the air to some unheard gentle music that you wish to hear.

July 26th, 2009 No AC in the office... slowly melting.

July 22nd, 2009 Great stage today on the tour de france. Lance really showed his devotion to the team. he obviously is on "official" terms with Contador. I really like Contador though. He showed us last year that he IS a real team player by staying with Astana. Gotta work late tonight which is the 3rd night this week and its wednesday. but hopefully i can get out for a while and have a swim with the kids. or more likely Pascal since Pi shows no real desire to go for a swim. He likes tearing down sand castles though.

July 21th, 2009 Beautifull night tonight felt like I could ride forever. Kids got into the icecream in the freezer. This after the popsicles were consumed. Better yet they ate all this in their Babooshka's bed.

July 16th, 2009 Finished the STP this last weekend. Wasn't all that hard this year. My back was killing me the last 80km. Without this issue I might have actually enjoyed the ride much more. Arrived in portland at 6pm. 4 flats and one broken spoke. So far I've broken a spoke every time I've ridden the STP. Frustrating. Bringing a spoke with me next year. Stayed in Portland until Monday. Beautiful city. Stayed in the Pearl district. People are dog crazy there. I feel sorry for the dogs. All leashes and sitting by their owners ankles while he talks on the cell phone. Kamchatka has it good. Pascal and Pi played really well with Alosha and Luca. They are great kids. Lots of energy just like ours. Pascal really liked Alosha. He is very gentle with Pascal. For only one year on him he is much bigger.

July 10th, 2009 Kids just keep getting funnier. Pi is calling everyone "kids". Cyclists in the tour de france chugging there way up Acaris are kids. The 20 somethings sitting behind us by Union Lake watching the fireworks are kids. He even told them himself they were kids. Pascal crawled into bed with us last night because there was a lizard in the room. I even had to carry him to the toilet to pee he was so scared. This morning the story had changed somewhat. The lizard was a large green camelion that wanted to be blue. It had cut itself while getting candy from the drawer and Pascal made him feel better by taping up his belly. Which now has candy in it. To make matters worse Pi tried to attack the large green lizard. Lucky for the lizard Pascal was there to protect him.

Riding the STP tommorrow. Going to start from home and join up with the crowd further south. Tatiana's mom is visitting right now. This is really well timed as Tatiana is constantly tired because of her condition. If I let that woman feed me as much as she wanted I'd be too big for my bike by now.

Great stage on the Tdf today. Astana was an amazing team and showed how tight they were. Unless something happens Contador will run away with the tour like Basso ran away with the 2006 Giro.

June 23rd, 2009   Took the kids to get eaten by mosquitoes at Lake Wenatchee. We had a great time by the lake and the kids played like mad. They befriended a little girl named Charlotte. She has to be trouble with a name like that. The mosquitos are crazy this time of year. Pascal is getting much better with his math. Tatiana is sleeeeepy lately.

June 19th, 2009Tatiana gonna go strawberry picking today. Hopefully we can save them till March or so.

June 18th, 2009 Did some research on DIY electric bikes:

June 7th, 2009 Weekend summary: Lawn, Bike. Went for a bike ride with Scott this weekend. Great route We ran into another gentlemen that was looking for E Lake Sammamish Pkwy and he joined us until we got to Issaquah.
Pi is imitating Swiper the fox now and says :"Oooooh Maaaan". very funny. For the parents anyways. Has been a great spring so far and the following week is calling for sun.
Read a Scientific American article on food shortages. The article itself is pretty scary but the extra strain on the food supply and the environmental impact of creating fuel from corn is so crazy. How is it that this is thought of as a clean technology. We need to bridge over to solar. Nuclear is the ideal bridge.
Here is a recent shot of pascal and pi actually getting along while having a picnic. (this is at ferrel mcwitter park right behind our house):

June 1st, 2009 Broke my back Friday going up a steep section on my bike. Stupid me really. Added some steps to the hot tub and hung out at idlewood park. Great spot for the kids. Pascal cut his toe somehow. Remember how he did it. Or at least he isn't tell me. He is limping around like an old man. Went to Palmers on Sunday and the kids danced their asses off. Awesome. The final Giro ITT was really exciting. Denis Menchov wiped out the last km which jeopardized his race lead. He still managed to win though. The spring has been really nice so far. This week is going to be quite hot. Pascal has a bit of a fever.

Pascal and Pi pretending to be explorers by Sammamish river trail. This is by the old age community center close to QFC:

May 27th 2009 Click the link above to see some may photos. Weather has been great so far. Road the 7 hills this last monday, fun ride. Scotts friend Mark was very fast. Kids addicted to the hot tub. Had BBQ on monday and someone was filling the hot tub with sand. Rats! Pascal has yet to break any bones on the trampoline... I have faith though. Watching Giro. Pretty anti climatic. Last year we had Ricardo Ricco adding a ton of excitement. At least there is something good about the juice. Still reading book on Winston Churchill . Absolutely fascinating character. I think I may read another biography on him since this one really only covers the 20's and 30's. Winston quoted from the book:
When the situation was manageable is was neglected, and now that it is thoroughly out of had, we apply too late the remedies which the might have affected a cure. There is nothing new in the story. It is old as the Sibylline books. It falls into that long dismal catalogue of the fruitlessness of experience and the confirmed unteachability of mankind. Want of foresight, unwillingness to act when action would be simple and effective, lack of clear thinking, confusion of counsel until the emergency come, until self-preservation strikes its jarring gong - these are the features which constitute the endless repetition of history.
I just found this photo of pascal when he was about 1.5 years old. Great picture. It is weird, your kids grow up so fast when they are so young that you are constantly missing them, but anticipating their next adventure:

and look at him now:
